Elanco Nuplura PH Vaccine is designed to protect cattle aged 3 months and older against respiratory disease caused by Mannheimia haemolytica, a primary pathogen responsible for bovine respiratory disease (BRD). Utilizing recombinant leukotoxoid technology, this vaccine offers a rapid immune response, with protective immunity established as early as 10 days post-administration. The vaccine employs purified outer membrane proteins, reducing cellular debris and allowing the immune system to focus on critical bacterial components. This approach minimizes reactivity and ensures a smooth vaccination process for the animals. Administered via a 2 mL subcutaneous injection, Nuplura PH is safe for calves as young as 28 days. While a single dose provides effective protection, a booster may be administered before periods of stress or elevated risk of exposure. Nuplura PH is not recommended in pregnant cattle or calves nursing pregnant cows, as these groups have not been established as safe. Additionally, vaccination should not occur within 60 days before slaughter.
